Siftei Tzadikim. Commentary on the Torah in the chassidic way, primarily by the Baal Shem Tov, with much material from the patriarchs of chassidut, particularly Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apt [author of Ohev Yisrael], and by Rabbi Pinchas [Lerner] Av Beit Din of Dinovitz. Lemberg, 1863. First edition. Complete copy.
Specifications: [4] 5-52, 51-74, [4] leaves. 24 cm. Stefansky, Chassidut 592. Complete copy with all the leaves that are not found in many copies.
The book opens with a preface by Admor David Moshe Chortkov, son of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, who said that when the book is published he will be the first to purchase it, since it is a very valuable and respectable work.
Unique Features: The Bibliography of the Hebrew Book describes an incomplete copy, and the National Library also describes a blemished exemplar. However, this copy is complete with nine approbations, including those from the Admors of Ruzhin, and Rabbi Yosef Shaul Notenhausen of Lemberg. Also includes the concluding leaves of subscribers, index of names of righteous people and errata. These leaves are not listed in the Bibliography.
Condition: Moderate-fine. The three first leaves are slightly blemished. Not bound.
