Yosef Chen - Midbar yam. By Rabbi Natan Friedland. Warsaw, 1879. First edition.
The author, Rabbi Natan Friedland, was the disciple of Rabbi Eliyahu Guttmacher and Rabbi Zundel of Salant. He actively supported the settlement of the Land of Israel during the time of the forerunners of Zionism. Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalisher saw him as a partner to his beliefs and enthusiastically approbated his book.
Additional approbations by Rabbi Shimin Sofer Av Beit Din of Krakow, Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Meisel Av beit Din of Lodz, Rabbi Mordechai Gimpel Yaffe, the Aderet, Rabbi Yitzchak Ya'akov Reines and more.

The book discusses all the questions and claims of the opponents of Zionism. He analyzes each question and discusses its rational and religious aspects. The conclusion is that the objections to Zionism are unfounded and are not supported by the Torah and the Jewish religion.
