Rare art books with autographs, selected works of painting, sculpture, and applied art from the private collection of Vasily Alekseyevich Pushkarev (1915–2002), former director of the Russian Museum.

Vasily Alekseevich Pushkarev (1915–2002) was an art historian, museum professional, and long-time director of the State Russian Museum (1951–1977), who played a key role in shaping its research and exhibition policies in the second half of the 20th century. His work was dedicated to the preservation of Russian art, including the Russian avant-garde, émigré archives, and «leftist» Soviet art.

The auction brings together items from V. Pushkarev’s personal library and collection. The centerpiece consists of art albums featuring dedications and autographs by such masters as M. Chagall, S. Roerich, P. Kuznetsov, A. Samokhvalov, E. Vuchetich, T. Mavrina, A. Pakhomov, Y. Pimenov, G. Nissky, and Y. Vasnetsov. The fine arts section features early watercolors by Pushkarev himself, as well as paintings by artists from the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, including works by V. Pereplechchikov, M. Yakovlev, and E. Mosolov (E. Adan). The sculpture section features original Soviet sculptures—works by L. Gadaev and V. Tsygankov—as well as plaster sculptures by P. Trubetskoy and M. Anikushin. The collection is complemented by folk art objects—Russian spinning wheels and glazed tiles.
