Extremely rare, US 4th Cavalry Colt .36 calibre revolver with shoulder stock, circa 1860s, the revolver has built in slot in the revolvers grip for the shoulder stock and both revolver and the stock have the cavalry's crossed swords motif with the 4 above, the revolver also has the 2 underneath the crossed swords which we believe means it was possibly 2nd battalion of the 4th Cavalry. The revolver - US 4th Cavalry issue, stamped US Colts Patent, Gun number 24307, stamped on at least 3 different areas of the revolver. The top along the octagonal gun barrel is engraved ”Address Col. Saml Colt New-York U.S. America”. The Stock - Made of dark wood and brass, the brass shoulder butt bears the Cavalry crossed swords logo with the 4 above. To the gun attachment end is an ornate brass plate to either side, both sides engraved with an Eagle in flight and stars. Please note - The 4th Cavalry was formed in 1855 and participated in both the US civil war and the Indian wars
