Chinese Cloisonne Enamel Covered Pedestal Cup - Decorative Chinese cloisonné enamel covered pedestal vessel, richly ornamented with colorful floral and scrolling motifs over a dark metal ground. The piece has a deep goblet-form body raised on a narrow stem and flared circular foot, together with a fitted domed cover topped by a brass-colored pointed finial. The exterior is extensively decorated in traditional cloisonné technique, with fine metal wires outlining elaborate scrolling foliage, stylized blossoms, lotus-like flowers and repeating cloud-form borders. The enamel palette includes vivid cobalt and royal blue, turquoise, green, red, pink and pale blue, accented by exposed gilt-toned wirework. Large blue floral blossoms decorate both the body and pedestal, while the domed lid carries a complementary radial floral and scroll pattern. The interior of the vessel and underside of the cover are finished in a rich cobalt-blue enamel, contrasting strongly with the multicolored exterior decoration. The underside of the foot is metal with visible circular finishing marks. The combination of intricate wirework, densely arranged ornament and richly colored enamel gives the vessel considerable decorative presence.
