Magritte Parastone L'Homme au Chapeau Melon - Parastone Mouseion Collection sculpture based on René Magritte’s L’Homme au Chapeau Melon (Man in the Bowler Hat), a 1964 Surrealist composition closely related to Magritte’s celebrated The Son of Man. The work substitutes the familiar apple motif with a white bird flying directly across the sitter’s face, continuing Magritte’s exploration of concealment and hidden identity. The dimensional sculpture depicts a formally dressed gentleman in a black suit and bowler hat with a pale tie, while a detailed white bird with fully extended wings passes across and obscures the upper portion of his face. The bird is modeled with individually articulated feathers, giving the composition considerable depth and movement. Produced by Parastone as part of its Mouseion Collection, the sculpture is constructed of resin with hand-painted detailing. The underside identifies René Magritte, L’Homme au Chapeau Melon, the Parastone Mouseion Collection, and © C.H./ADAGP, Paris 2017. Accompanied by the illustrated artwork/information booklet and Parastone Mouseion Collection certificate shown in the photographs.
