Estate Chinese Archaistic Jade Dragon Lidded Vesse - Estate Chinese carved jade lidded vessel with an archaistic form and extensive relief decoration. The stone displays naturally mottled tones of cream, olive, tan, russet, and dark brown, creating considerable variation across the surface. The tall rectangular body is carved on both sides with recessed panels containing scrolling geometric, symbolic, and animal-inspired motifs reminiscent of early Chinese bronze decoration. Sculptural openwork dragon-form handles extend along both sides of the vessel, adding depth and an architectural quality to the piece. The removable fitted lid is surmounted by a carved mythical animal finial, possibly representing a qilin or similar auspicious creature. Incised geometric borders appear around the neck and lid, while the vessel rests on a short integral foot.
