Bidspirit auction | Two Ceramic Music Figurines

Two Ceramic Music Figurines - This lot comprises two vintage ceramic figurines of differing styles. The first is a musical figurine manufactured by Maruho, Japan, portraying two young children, a boy and a girl, in a sentimental prayer pose. The figures are rendered in a matte bisque-style finish and are set upon a glazed rotating circular base. The base is embellished with pastel-coloured floral sprigs and the word LOVE in raised gold-coloured script. The underside features a plastic winding mechanism cover embossed with the maker mark MARUHO JAPAN. The second item is a hand-painted glazed ceramic figurine depicting a courting couple in 18th-century Rococo style attire. The man is dressed in a russet-coloured frock coat and yellow waistcoat, while the woman wears a blue bodice and a tiered floral skirt. They are mounted on a circular pedestal base with a green-painted surface and gilt scrollwork decoration. There are no visible maker marks on this piece.
