A Victorian Leather-Bound Portable Apothecary Case with Glass Vials - A portable apothecary or medicine chest from the late 19th or early 20th century. The rectangular wooden case is bound in a brown pebble-grain leather and features a hinged lid secured by a small brass tab fastener. The lid is gold-stamped with the initials C. E. C. The interior is divided into six horizontal wooden compartments. The case contains several clear glass vials, each with a ground-glass neck and matching ground-glass stopper with a flattened butterfly-form grip. Also present are two small tapered cork bungs. Two of the six compartments are currently vacant. No maker's marks are visible on the case or the glassware. Case length: 13cm Case width: 9cm.
