First Edition in Book Form. - This is a first edition in book form of Charles Dickens' Bleak House, published in London by Bradbury and Evans in 1853. The volume is an octavo and includes the printed title page and the additional engraved vignette title page and frontispiece by H. K. Browne, known as Phiz. The text block contains the standard suite of illustrations by Browne. A preliminary blank leaf bears a vertical handwritten ink inscription reading Martha L Hopkins.
