Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Mexican Silver
A Pair of Mexican Silver and Crushed Stone Inlay Greek Key Drop Earrings - A pair of large circular drop earrings in the style of mid-20th century Mexican jewellery, likely originating from the Taxco region. Each earring is constructed from a white metal and features a central circular panel with a wire-work stepped fret or Greek key motif. This central design is surrounded by a decorative scalloped wire border. The earrings form a mismatched pair; one earring is inlaid with a mosaic of crushed turquoise-coloured stone, while the other features a black stone inlay accented with iridescent shell fragments, possibly abalone. Both earrings are finished with three suspended teardrop-shaped dangles at the base, inlaid to match their respective central panels. The earrings are fitted with shepherd's hook wires for pierced ears. No hallmarks or maker's marks are visible.
