An Edwardian Sterling Silver Picture Frame by Levi & Salaman, Birmingham 1913
An Edwardian sterling silver picture frame of rectangular form, manufactured by the silversmiths Levi & Salaman. The frame features an ornate embossed border decorated with scrolling foliate and shell motifs, surmounted by a decorative shaped crest. The silver component is designed to be mounted to an easel back, which is currently absent.
Hallmarks:
Maker's mark: L & S for Levi & Salaman.
Assay office mark: An anchor for Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Standard mark: A lion passant for sterling silver (.925 purity).
Date letter: A lowercase o in a square shield with clipped bottom corners, corresponding to the year 1913.
