Antique Cabinet - - A Portuguese Neo-Gothic Cabinet, from the beginning of the 20th century (circa 1930). This is an impressive example of Portuguese carpentry, richly executed in the revivalist style. Rectangular shaped body, crafted in light colored solid wood (possibly walnut?!), and decorative details in mixed woods (some noble). Separates in three sections, base, middle (columns), and top (cabinet) without any glue or nails, top cabinet with dome style ceilings reminiscing of religious architecture, dovetail joints to the drawers. Presents an eclectic mixture of handcarved details in deep relief throughout with themes of leafs and religious architectural arches, two brass accents to the interior of the side cabinets with roman soldiers motifs. This antique style of furniture is usually found in old manor houses and were mainly built in Sintra, Portugal, where eclectic woodwork, architecture and decoration have been present for centuries. Condition: Good, one of the drawers needs repair to the hinge, some minor wood pieces missing, but overall very good. Dim: 150(L)x54(D)x250(H) cm.
