Antique Wooden Horse - - A large antique wooden sculpture depicting a horse, of an impressively large size, the body of the horse is proportionate & sturdy with visible musculature and a solid stance. The head features bold expressive eyes painted in a way that gives a lifelike appearance, with the ears in an alert position. This wonderful unique piece is painted in muted earthy tones, predominantly reddish brown, with faint accents of gold. Around the horses head and torso there are carved and painted decoration, including a rope like bridal and ornamental bells, adding to the drama of the piece. Although originally purchased in Portugal, this type of horse might be inspired by or originate from countries with a rich ceremonial tradition, such as India or Southeast Asia.
