Collectible Plates - - A rare and highly collectible set of 9 antique display plates. This beautifully unique collection crafted from polychrome ironstone, used in years gone by for its versatility and durability. Depicting hand painted whimsical scenes of courtship, merriment & mischievous children. Each plate is signed with the initials of the artist Froment Richard (FR) cleverly hidden within the pattern. At the top of the illustrations there are decorative signs with French texts. One amusing example ‘Faux Pas Toucher Aux Pommes Du Voisin’ translates to ‘Don’t Touch Your Neighbours Apples’. Stamped to the back with The Sarreguemines Factory mark. Origin : France. Circa : 19th century. Condition : Used, minimal chips to rims, and 1 chip to the back of one plate not visible from the front, overall very good. Dim : 22cm (diameter)
