Davenport Desk - - An antique Victorian-style Davenport desk, with an inclined lifting desktop attached with hinges to the back of the body, lined with a leather top, stained hardwood body, with intricate marquetry inlays depicting floral motifs, features 4 small side drawers, twisted barley legs and casters on the base. This type of desk owes its name to a Captain Davenport who was the first to commission the design, from Gillows of Lancaster, near the end of the 18th century, they became very popular to use on ships as they occupied few space and could be easily moved around. Condition: Used, some wear and tear due to its age, scratches, scuffs, and minor cracks, some of the drawers are stuck, needs repairs throughout. Dim:88(H)x59(L)x52(D) cm.
