Antique Table - - A rare opportunity to own a Baby Sutherland Table. An ingenious piece of furniture dating back to the Mid Victorian period. Beautifully crafted from walnut with book veneers & solid wood nosing, by a highly skilled carpenter with an excellent eye for detail. The pretty oval shaped top, with 2 drop leaves rests on a bobbin turned base, the leaf legs complete with the original brass & ceramic castors. A exceptionally useful & versatile size than can be easily stored away when not in use. The term Sutherland Table is believed to originate from the first full size non baby variant. Named after The Dutches of Sutherland - Mistress to the robes of Queen Victoria. Origin : England. Circa : 1880.
