This specific piece is a Lithograph of an original Matisse painting part of Matisse's famous series of ”cut-outs,” which he created later in his life when he could no longer paint due to health problems. This work is a prime example of Fauvism's influence, focusing on bold colors and simplified forms. While the cut-out period came after Fauvism, the color-driven and expressive focus remained central to Matisse's later work.
