Antique Chairs - - A rare set of 6 antique Windsor Chairs. These iconic chairs originated in England in around 1720 and by the mid 18th century they were hugely popular in the Americas. This beautiful set from the late 19th century are fine examples, & include 2 carvers. Hand crafted from Elm wood, with spindle backs, a central shaped splat and the spoke wheel motif highly characteristic of the Windsor chair. A pair of additional spindles join the back to the seat, this gives the ultimate strength, and is a sign of a craftsmanship rarely seen in contemporary furniture. Simply put these amazing chairs were designed and built to last. Condition : Used, wear to varnish commensurate with age and use, structurally good, overall good.
