Antique Brass Scale - - An antique Brass Steelyard Scale, also referred to as a Roman Balance or Stadera. Historically these types of scales were used for weighing heavy objects, often in agricultural or commercial contexts. Consisting of a central vertical column with a decorative bulls head finial, this column supports the balance beam with horizontal bar used to suspend items. A mechanical weighing instrument working on a principal of leverage, comes complete with a complete set of Counterweights in graduating size.
