Ancient Artefacts - - 2 ancient artefacts originating from the region of Byblos better known as modern day Jbeli, Lebanon. A significant ancient Phoenician City with a long & rich archaeological record. Artefact No 1 is a Unguentariam also referred to as a tear bottle or perfume bottle. It boasts a narrow cylindrical body, with a small base & a flared neck, crafted from coarse ceramic with significant blackened age related wear. Artefact No 2 is a Twin Handled Amphora, with a globular body, short neck with flared rim, and 2 prominent vertical loop handles extending from the rim to the shoulder. Decorated with a geometric red grid or netting design. Typical of middle to late Bronze Age Levantine styles. Byblos was a major center of trade during the Bronze & Iron Age, especially given the extensive interaction with Egypt, Cyprus & The Aegean. So these 2 pieces in such superb condition are a real find, and a simply must have to any serious collector. Complete wither original gallery display stands. Condition : Used, significant & expected age related wear commensurate with age, both intact with no damage, very good.
