Antique Fire Screen - - A large antique fire screen, from the Late Victorian/Early Edwardian period. In an oak frame featuring superb architectural details. Including hand forged wrought iron scroll legs, a triangular pediment finished with turned spherical finials, sitting above an impressive cornice. The screen panel of which the centrepiece is a tapestry, boasting a coat of arms, with a surrounding fabric that is degraded due to age and use. This unique piece and the craftsmanship involved in its design indicates it would have originated in a regal house, to protect occupants from excessive heat or sparks. Serving not only as a functional piece, but also a highly decorative piece when not in use. Circa : Late 19th/Early 20th century. Condition : Used, fabric surround in poor condition and will require restoration, surface rust to the feet , overall good. Dim : 167cm (H) x 90cm (W) x 29cm (D)
