Elizabethan fan circa 1860 probably made in Valencia (Spain). Country with printed paper and lithographed and colored decoration (obverse) and unlithographed painting (reverse). Mother-of-pearl openwork wand with gilded vegetal decoration and matching guards.
Obverse decorated with a scene in a garden with a group of various characters. In the central group, a painter in front of his canvas portrays a seated lady who listens to a gentleman, and next to them, two ladies standing with a musical attribute. Other characters flank this group. A delicate decoration based on roses and plants, all painted without lithography, frames the country of the fan. Reverse with original painting showing a landscape with architectures next to a lake. Very good preservation.
