Great Adeva Dish (Talavera), 1975
Large format plate made in the house Adeva - Artesanía Talaverana of Talavera de la Reina (Toledo, Spain). It shows a rider on his horse chasing a deer, accompanied by his hunting dog. The scene takes place in a country landscape, framed with scallops and palm fronds. Taps and two allegorical figures with colored vegetal decoration surround the whole. A cartouche at the bottom shows the signature and date of its maker "TALAVERA / TA (intertwined) / Adeva / 1975". On the back of the plate there is another signature: "MADE BY / Adeva / IN / ARTESANIA TALAVERANA / TA (interlaced) / = TALAVERA =".
Due to its chronology, this work must be an original by Pablo Adeva Martín, a disciple in the tradition of the art and ceramic models of the Toledo master Juan Ruiz de Luna. Pablo Adeva was awarded the National Prize for Artistic Ceramics in 1975, precisely the year he signed the piece we now present.
