Juan Luna Novicio (1857–1899) – Orientalist Woman - Watercolour on paper. Signed and underlined in capital letters, in the lower right corner, under the column: ‘LVNA’. Original work by the renowned Filipino painter and national hero. The subject of this watercolour is a woman, in an Orientalist context, adorned with rich jewellery and clothing. Standing, she is located inside a palatial building of that style. Very good condition. Provenance: Descendants of José Taviel de Andrade y Lerdo de Tejada (1857–1920), Spanish painter and soldier who served as personal bodyguard to José Rizal, national hero of the Philippines.
