Soup tureen with lid, France, circa 1950 - Soup tureen with lid, pieces made of metal with a silver-toned finish. French work from around 1950. Very good condition. Two engraved representations on the lid and a heraldic shield on the tureen; the first on the lid depicts a bird with its wings spread over a crown, inscribed in a circular border like a belt, with a buckle bearing the inscription “J'AIME OUI M'AIME ”; its translation, “those who love me love me, ” refers to the Consulate or Empire style under Napoleon I in France; the second is another bird in the form of a griffin, in bust form with outstretched wings and its mouth open. The coat of arms has a phylactery underneath it with the inscription “VENALE · NEC · AURO.” Dimensions: 20 (height) x 40 x 26 cm. Total weight: 5,39 kg.
