Pair of ruffs with a tie. Spain, 16th century - A pair of matching ruffs with one brocade strip, featuring silver, yellow and blue brocades, the first two of which are edged with silver thread. The simple gold decoration against a blue background and the highly stylised curves at the ends of each ruff lead us to date these three pieces to the early 16th century, around 1500–1530.
