Circle of François Boucher (1703-1770) Study for three angels with roses and dove (Spring) - Red chalk with touches of chalk on laid paper with dotted lines and corondels. The use of black pencil is not visible. This drawing must be related to the mural painting that Boucher did on the subject of Spring (set of The Four Seasons, see last photograph) in the Council Chamber of the roof of the palace at Fontainebleau (France). With a frame in carved and gilded wood from the Parisian house of Lemeunier, according to the printed paper label: ‘RÉPARATIONS DE VIEILLES DORURES / MEUBLES DORÉS, PEITS, LAQUÉS / BATIMENT LEMEUNIER MIROITERIE / 25, Rue de l'Arcade, 25 / PARIS / TRANSPORT & POSE DE TABLEAUX / NETTOYAGE DE GRAVURES ET ENCADREMENTS ARTISTIQUES / RENTOILAGE, VERNISSAGE / ET RESTAURATION DE TABLEAUX’. Size: 382 x 447 mm (paper support); 54,3 x 62 x 2,3 cm (frame). The frame has a matching passe-partout with gilt filleting, both from the 19th century.
