18th Century Frisian Shorttail Clock with Ship Mechanism, ca. 1790 - An antique 18th century Frisian shorttail clock in an elm wood case. Dial with Roman and Arabic numeral indications, surrounded by gilding and the four seasons, with a mechanism of ships, waves, and a fisherman at the top. The back plate is monogrammed 'GA', which could indicate the clockmaker Geert Ales (Heerenveen) or Gerben Ates (clockmaker in Joure). Ca. 1790.
