18th or 19th Century Archangel Box - An antique Russian Archangel box with a covering of carved and engraved leg plates, partly openwork and with green pigmented decoration. Russia, 18th–19th century. Such boxes were ordered by sailors and brought back from the Russian port of Archangelsk.
