17th-century silver vroedschapspenning, coronation of Stadtholder Willem III, Rotterdam 1689 - An antique 17th-century silver medal, with on the obverse a view of Rotterdam, with the city coat of arms under a palm tree and the text ‘Roterodamum’. On the reverse an image of the statue of Erasmus, with behind it a gathering of 18 persons in Roman dress. In the background a triumphal arch with the inscription Principi Patriaeque (to the prince and the fatherland), crowned with, among other things, a bust of Willem III. At the bottom dated 1689.
