Appel (Karel Appel, Amsterdam 1921 - Zürich 2006) and dated (19)44. Also hand-signed 'Appel' upper right. In modern frame behind glass with passe-partout. It is known that Karel Appel made several portraits of starving people during the Hunger Winter of 1944. Dimensions: 32 x 21 cm. Frame size 41 x 31 cm. Condition: Several very small spots of oxidation. The paper is attached at the top to a cardboard support with a glued strip. Small break in the glass at lower right along the frame.
