EUGENE O'NEILL
(1888-1953) American playwright and Nobel Laureate whose famous work 'Long Day's Journey into Night' is considered one of the finest American plays of the 20th century. A.L.S on 'The Cloister' letterhead, 1p., 8vo., Sea Island, GA. Nov. 28, 1931 to 'Macy', in part: '...It was damned kind of you to take the trouble to write me about 'Electra', and I was immediately pleased by what you thought about it. Your favorable judgment has always meant a lot to me and always will.' Fine condition. A highly regarded literary critic in his day, John Albert Macy (1877-1932) is best remembered today for his instrumental role in the editing and publication of Helen Keller's 'The Story of My Life' (1903). Macy married Keller's teacher, Anne Sullivan, in 1905.
