Rare!!! Rare Silk Flag Zionist Company ”Even Zion” Jewish Agudas Achim - Bulgaria 1918. Historical Diluted Jewish Community Item - Embroidered cloth integrated with silk flag, from the Zionist company ”Even Zion” Jewish Agudas Achim from the province of ”Yambol” in Bulgaria. The year 5679 (1918). Double-sided flage identical on both sides. A historical item from a diluted Jewish community: * About the Jewish community in Bulgaria:  there is known to have been a Jewish community in Bulgaria as early as the 14th century, and there are opinions stating even in the 9th century.  With the entry of the Russian army in 1877, while fighting the Ottoman Empire, the Jews had temporarily deserted the town. Upon their return, the community reorganized. According to a commander from 1880 the city inhabited 606 Jews. * About the ”Even Zion” Organization:  Herzl's visit to Bulgaria in 1896 strengthened the Zionist organization. In the same year the organization ”Even Zion” was founded, and by 1919 the number of its members reached 150. The ”Even Zion” organization worked alongside the also Zionist ”Maccabi” organization. * About the ”Yambol” Province:  before WWI Yambol was one of ten cities which had existing unions for the spreading of Hebrew Culture, and after the war its operation continued stronger than ever. On the center of the flag there is an embroidered Star of David and inside it the Tablets of Stone and the Hebrew phrase for: ”The Lord is My Flag (also ”My Miracle”), and on the four ends there are the embroidered Hebrew words for: ”One God”, ”Moses”, ”Agudas-Achim”, ”Sinai”. On the bottom there is an embroidery of a word depicting apparently the name of the flag weaver. Silk fabric in a cream shade, handcrafted embroidery using threads of a yellowish\gold shade, tassels to the edges. Dimensions: 100X140 cm.
