A fine gilt silver coral and turquoise pendant - Uzbekistan - 19th century - Comprised of a two-way pendant in organic design decorated with fine filigree and inset with turquoise and colored stones. A small hanging pendant connects on top and from the bottom hang 8 strands composed of silver wire and chains, dome-shaped elements inset and decorated with openwork and linked with coral beads and other silver elements (some set with turquoise). Six of the strands end with iron keys some stones missing. length: 38 cm diameter of corals: 2-8 mm weight: 245 grams * ornaments like this would have between 4-10 keys attached to them. They had magical properties and were in no way meant to open anything.
