Ottoman Podium Textile Embroidered with Silver Threads 1884 - The textile floor is made of purple silk. The center is embroidered with a silver thread ornamentation in an organic geometrical design. The textile border is embroidered in geometrical shapes with organic motifs inside them. Embroidered dedication and date in Hebrew: ”To my daughter.. from Rabbi Aryeh 5645 (1884)”. Measurements: 90X54 cm. * In Ottoman lands, such items were often first in home use, and donated afterwards to the Synagogue ahead of a special occasion.
