”Yoshinobu” - Very Fine Wooden Netsuke, Figure of Reposed Shi Shi Dog, Japan - end of 18th century Beginning of 19th century, Marked ”Yoshinobu” - Netsuke in fine carving of a Shi Shi Dog handcrafted by artist ”Yoshinobu”. It is reposed with its head turned backwards, its front paws are rested one on top of the other and its body covered with hair mains curling down his body, his face has an amusing expression, one can see its fangs protruding out his mouth and its eyebrows prominent, while below them stand his eyes, set with inlaying of carved black horn, the wood has rich patina, marked on its rear paw inside a rectangular reserve ”Yoshinobu”.
