Carved netsuke of the deity of luck Hotei, Japan - Edo period, 18th century - An early netsuke carved from organic material depicting Hotei, one of the seven deities  of luck. He is seen reclining on his back in a relaxed pose with a calm expression on his face. He is dressed in only a robe and holds a fan in his right hand. Features wide and elegant himotoshi holes and rich amber-colored patina. Dimensions: 7x3x2 cm.
