VERY RARE 40 KEYS - MAGIC DIVINATION HEALING BOWL PERSIAN QAJAR DYNASTY, APPROX 1800 -  -VERY RARE 40 KEYS - MAGIC DIVINATION HEALING BOWL PERSIAN QAJAR DYNASTY APPROX 1800 or EARLIER  Featuring the ”KEYS” around the top outside rim and including several ”keys” with hand hammered Islamic characters chasing in contrast to the usually found symbolical rings standing for the keys, inside the bowl. the Antique Bowl was hand crafted and fully embellished with highly detailed Hand Hammered inscriptions, inside and outside. Traditionally these are verses from the Qumran and at times additional holy books, Blessings geared towards the healing of the users. the general condition is still fine, the Islamic characters are clear and vibrant, a Removable navel is in place allowing the pouring of the liquid when used.the bronze material might have been tinned very long ago in order to avoid poisoning. Magic-Healing Bowls have become known during the Middle Ages. Folklore tradition has it that such bowls own the magic powers to heal the ill -through either pouring the liquid over the head /shoulders of the patient or from drinking its liquid content.Over the centuries the bowls merits expanded also to enhancing Fertility. At the outset, the liquid used was water yet over the many years and following local popular beliefs..... additional.... more exotic liquids are known to have also been used.the Magic Bowls have rapidly become coveted and their continuous presence has been known in both the Ottoman and Persian empires including their neighbor Islamic countries. Such bowls were hand crafted of metal material and hand hammered with verses -blessings from the Quran or in some cases additional Holy Texts considered to be catalysts to the Healing process. the ancient bowls were crafted of bronze or iron -especially in the Persian Empire the newer ones mainly made out of brass.the crafting was the work of experienced craftsmen some of them actual Masters, as a result such bowls have been expensive to get and were mostly commissioned by members of the Court Dignitaries, Nobility, or afluent families and passed on from generation to generation. Many regular families were seeking the favor of borrowing such Bowls for very short period of time in order to enjoy their unique healing attributes and this custom has still been known to exist in various expatriate communities. the outstanding quality of the hand chasing by some of the Master craftsmen made the high quality bowls become recognized as an integral part of the Islamic Art , be exhibited in Museums or privately enjoyed in serious international private collections. the 40 KEYS type - were considered the rarer and Elite of Magic Bowls in the Persian Empire. 40 Keys -opening the ”Holy ” Gates of Heaven” sported a more elaborated shape featuring rings -standing for keys at the center of the bowl around the navel.They required an even greater degree of skills and refined craftsmanship. Magic bowls with actual ”key”like metal tongues and non traditional location like for example outside the bowl's rim are of the finest and rarest to come about and genuine museum material.
