Antique Quran / Koran Islamic Pierced Copper Silver inlaid Table , (KURSI) -  Impressive workmanship circa:1900. A hexagonal shape. The side of the Kursi is decorated with mahrabim. Demascene silver work hammered into the brass. recurring Geometric patterns and Arabesque calligraphy. In the front of the item is an arched door that swing open. Items can then be stored underneath. Very specialized piercing work in which each one of the hundreds of holes is done by hand. This allows light of the candles to shine in the best possible fashion. A Kursi like this only comes up rarely into the hands of an auction house. Ordinarily they are made with cheaper materials and labor. Circa: End of 19th/beginning of 20th century. This item is classic example of Mamluk revivalism which inspired many Europeans and Muslims to experiment with mixed metals. The table stands stable and is in  good condition.  height: 53 cm, width: 35 cm
