A Luxurious Damascene Brass Silver and Copper Inlay Chest, Syria, 19th Century - Square form raised on four stylized feet. The sides and lid richly decorated with silver and copper inlay forming Arabic calligraphy and geometric ornament combined with engraved and pierced decoration. The lid opens to the side on heavy stylized brass hinges with a corresponding locking mechanism opposite. The interior of the box and lid lined with intricate intarsia of exotic woods forming a complex geometric pattern, with minor losses to the wooden inlay.  21 x 21x 21 cm Condition: For a full condition report please contact: office@alma.auction.
