An Old Torah Binder (Wimpel), Europe, Late 19th Century - An antique Torah binder originally used during a circumcision ceremony — the name of the newborn was inscribed on it as a protective amulet. Hand-decorated with rich calligraphy and vibrant colors. The textile features images of animals, birds, crowns and angels, all finely hand-painted in elaborate style. Inscription: Eliezer, known as Ludwig, son of Rabbi Shalom Frankel. Born on Wednesday, 4 Nisan 5652. May the Holy One bless him to attain Torah, marriage, and good deeds. Amen, Selah.
