An Important and Impressive Gilt Silver “Bird” (Labbeh Tyur) Necklace, Yemen, Sana’a, ca. 1930 - Executed in masterful filigree using parcel-gilt silver wire. The necklace widens toward the centre, forming interlinked bird and heart motifs strung with a central ribbon, further decorated with stars and crescent moons soldered above. Each element is finished with suspended leaf- and hamsa-shaped tassels. Secured with a hook clasp. Length: 55 cm; Width: 9.5 cm; Weight: 117 gr Notes: This type of necklace was produced in the 1930s by the Jewish silversmith Yehia al-Abyad and his son Misha in Sana’a.
