A Silver, Coral, and Turquoise Gau Amulet Case, Tibet, 19th Century - At its center, a raised silver relief with finely engraved repeating Tibetan motifs. A central cabochon-cut coral is set in the middle, with additional coral and turquoise stones inlaid at the four corners. The back panel is removable; the inner compartment was traditionally used to store written mantras or small votive figures. Accompanied by a later-added chain for wearing. Silver tested.
