Victorian gold box studded with diamonds and sapphires- America 1880-1890 - The luxurious gold box is finely engraved with kissing birds, floral  neo-classical motifs. Beautiful diamonds and deep blue sapphires form an oval design framing the fine carving.There is a niche to put in a pencil. A gold chain hangs from the box with a gold ring for attaching to a bag or garment. A diamond studded container attached to the box. The box opens by applying pressure  to the natural blue sapphire, Inside are three compartments: each opened by pressing on the sapphire one for holding paper and writing on.  The other two for holding whatever substance the owner would chose to put in. inscription inside one of the compartments. Dent on the beck of the box. Two diamonds missing on the front.  signed 14k gold  weight:140 grams
