An antique enormous Mauritanian Bakelite/ ”African amber” and filigree necklace-North Africa 1900-1920 - The large necklace is comprised of 30 large bakelite beads. most of the beads have silver filigree pendants incorporated into them. Bakelite beads are of rich orange brownish and butter scotch color. Some are more transparent than others. Some signs of repair to a few of the beads.  weight:700 grams diameter of beads:  25-42mm inner dimension of necklace: 46cm *beads like these were developed in Germany and sold to the North African people where they were greatly treasured. This is a fine and extremely large and rare example.
