Silver and enameled Amuletic chest ornament- Qajari Iran 18/19th century - The silver tubular pendant that opens is decorated with blue and turquoise enamel. The silver is hammered and engraved. In the inside of the tubular amulet case is a rolled thin sheet of steel . Four triangular pendants are attached from chains that hang from the central tube. They too are adorned with enamel. Scarab like pendants hang from the triangles (one is missing) over all condition is good (some wear to the enamel) weight: 186 grams dimensions: 24*15cm *Items like this would usually hold texts from the Koran or Jewish prayers used for protection.
