silver ”Labbeh Tyur” - Bird necklace -San'a Yemen 20th century - Necklace is comprised of silver filigree elements including hearts, bow knots,birds and Islamic star and crescent .the necklace is soldered,and cast.  General condition is good. Some soldering marks. Original clasp has been replaced weight : 106 grams length when open: 50 cm The ”bird necklaces were designed by Yihye Al-Abyadh and his son Meysha in San'a. Influenced by Indian and Turkish Jewelry, the ”bird necklaces were a novelty at the time they were made (1930's) Usually these were worn only by Muslim woman due to the Islamic star and crescent motifs.
