A rare and large parcel gilt, silver amulet case (Tumar)- Turkestan, Teke-1880-1900 - At the middle of the piece is a large amulet case with a detachable lid,   where verses from the Koran would be stored. A large triangle facing up juts out from the amulet case. On top of the triangle are horn motifs. The bottom part of the piece has green and red textile incorporated into the design( probably from a carpet). Spade motifs and silver bells dangle from the bottom. Red glass cabochons are set throughout the piece.  the piece is cut, engraved, punched, soldered, and gilded. dimensions: 29*33 cm weight: 696 grams * Turkestan woman would wear these ornaments around their neck, on their breasts or under their arm in the hope of bearing many children. Often they were worn around their hip to ensure easy labor.
