A gilded silver,coral and agate shokila ornament, Khorezm,(Khiva?) Uzbekistan-19th century? - The ornament has a hook on each side of the piece. Rows of silver wire work incorporated with corals goes from one side to the next. Agate set throughout. Turquoise set in the plaques ( some missing ) filigree spheres hang from each side of the ornament. silver barely ornaments hangs throughout the necklace. Triangle plaques set with turquoise hang on each side. Filigree ornaments hang form the triangle plaques.  cracks to some of the agate, some cracks to parts of the silver.  dimensions: 53*25 cm  weight: 315 grams *Items like this would be the prized possession of Khorezm woman. *Silversmiths in Khiva were very renown and important. It was not uncommon for a mosque to be named after an important silversmith.
